I’ve been thinking about the building blocks of life and the genetic connections we have to all other lifeforms on earth. Sometimes I daydream about what, if we manage not to drive ourselves to extinction, we might look like in the very far distant future. I imagine our sun growing dim and one final solitary being roams the earth. They contain the final living fragments of memories of us and when they are gone, we will have died our final death. I imagine a dark planet covered in fossils, bones and dust. I imagine the sound of wind blowing. I’ve imagined this for a long time and though it used to make me feel sick with horror and loneliness, now it fills me with awe.
