Back From Far Far Away

I'm back from a month long holiday in Japan with my partner, Wes. It was absolutely amazing but I am now absolutely broke, despite having saved for the holiday for over a year! It was completely worth it though, I'm more inspired and rested than I've been in a long time.

I'm not going to write about my Japan experiences overall, though I will be making an entry or two about a couple of specific experiences I had there. Suffice to say, Japan is a fascinating country that is both beautiful and ugly (like everyone and everything, I think) and I miss it immensely.

I'm sorry to say I don't have many great photos of Japan, I didn't want to lug around my big, heavy camera, so we only took Wes's little thing for snapshots which suited my frame of mind fine.
There are some things brewing on the art front but they'll be awhile away yet. Most exciting to me is a (secret for the time being) project I've just embarked upon with Wes. We're starting small but I'm feeling really positive about this one, we've only been home a few days and already we've got the ball rolling on it so I think that's a really good sign.
We've lived together for over two years now (and survived a whole month abroad and in each other's faces on a daily basis) and it has only brought use closer together. I think we're going to make a great team for this creative project. Also, we like to hide behind tree branches in monochromes.

Go team us!
Flying through the sky, so free and brave,
Nah na na na na, so clandestine and smart,
Working on the thing, hey look at us go!
Gooooooooo, Team Wes!
P.S.
You are awesome
Yeah in the pic you 2 do look like your hatching an evil master plan :) and for the next few years you'll be saying "when I was in Japan, when I was in Japan… :) I did that a bit when I came back from Australia, you can't help it, and Japan is a culture shock with lots of different ways of doing things. You have the most beautiful foot sticking out of that kimono :) the woodland path looks lovely and the city scape has the modern steel city feel that I loved about Melbourne.
Neat photos...
Btw the I got the book. Thanks so much! Now, hopefully I won't accidently order octopus or offend the Japanese in some way.
"modern steel city feel that I loved about Melbourne." Really? I've never felt that about Melbourne, but I suppose that's perspective - you come form a place with much older architecture, right?
Japan was almost overwhelmingly urban, every inch of flat land taken up by skyscrapers and even in the suburban areas with ricefields, there were still skyscrapers to fit the population into such a tiny landmass.
