Gooey, sparkly, colourful glee!
Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 5:37PM I'm really responding to Marilyn Minter's work - the intense colours, eroticism, sparkly sexy and even sort of grotesque. Yeah, it does things for me and makes me want to take more photos. Does anyone out there want to pose nude, covered in paint, glitter, and with crystal gems in various orifices? I'm serious, if you're out there, come to me! Please?
While I'm at it, I thought I'd post another pretty picture. This is a shot from the mermaid photos I took, some of which you can see in earlier entries of this journal. It didn't end up in the exhibition but I just like it and Minter's work made me think of it.
Yeah, I need to get hold of models other than myself, it's much easier to photograph other people!

In return , I'm entirely comfortable posing nude, dressing in a chicken suit, whatever you like! I'll also allow you the use of my awesome new camera as long as the shoot is inside (I worry about it outdoors, eh heh!)

But I so agree --- for my Canon5 entries, I did the self-portrait thing. Would have been a billion times easier with someone else! So, bring on the models!

Maybe, I don't know. Some day I will. Just have to find myself more comfortable as a photographer before I can expect someone to be that comfortable with me. If that makes sense.
Well, I think you're already a far more skilled and knowledgeable photographer than I am... but I suppose it's also easier for a woman to ask people to strip down and cover themselves in glitter. Or perhaps it's just easier for me!
I may be more skilled and knowledgeable now, but you have an amazing eye for composition (all those years of art, I'd assume), and you're catching me pretty quick already!
But, yes, I think it's a little of column A, a little of column B. I will get to it eventually, but I struggle to direct a clothed model at this point; adding nudity to the mix may make it more awkward for me. Haha. So, yeah, need a willing model and the confidence to a) ask for a willing model and b) behind the camera to take good photos.
Well if you're ever down here and need a model, I'm happy to volunteer in exchange for...iono... photography lessons or something!
