Mission Exhibition Successful!

Dear journal, my exhibition opening was absolutely wonderful! Let me tell you about it!
The installation was exhausting and pretty stressful at times when there were a few dramas – what with artwork falling off the wall and breaking - but I had two amazing people (Thankyou Ros, thankyou Wes) helping me out and that made all the difference. Artwork was fixed, art was put up and people arrived.
...So many people! Ok, granted the room was small and most of the people were friends. But I cannot tell you how affirming and special it was for someone who from approximately 11 to 19 years old was chronically ill, had almost no friends, didn't complete highschool and basically spent most of her time feeling useless and helpless.
Put in perspective, no it wasn't a breakthrough, "being discovered" exhibition and despite making quite a few sales, it's unlikely I've made a profit. But for once, I believe I may actually have broken even financially on an exhibition and for once, there were many people and for once I didn't feel empty and disheartened after the show. I felt encouraged and validated.
I have lots of images but need to sort through them all before posting them. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on these. The maker of those cookies is an amazing, talented, fascinating lady (who I rather admire, in case you've not figured that out already!). They were just delicious and by far the best gluten free cookies I'd had – if I didn't know the baker to be an honest woman, I would have declared her a LIAR when she said they're gluten free.
Here I am, holding a wine glass full of water and a mermaid cookie. How delightfully decadent!

Many more images in about a week’s time. In the meantime, my exhibition continues to run until the 5th of November. Wed-Sun 11-6PM at Brunswick St Gallery, 322 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. Upstairs in gallery 2. Check it out if you haven't already.
Thankyou so much to every single person who came and made this whole damn art making thing feel worthwhile. You know not how important it was to me.

Well done awesome-face McGee!
I dunno who this 'Ros' is, but I bet they wished that their name was Roz. :P
I took another look on Sunday after my gig and there seemed to be red dots EVERYWHERE..like crazy little rabbits. Speaking of crazy rabbits - I love your work.
Hola hooker!
Congrats and trannyfilled delight from me to you. Lots of red dots... sounds very Yayoi Kusama, next you'll be naked. xxx
Yay! I'm really glad that your exhibition opening went off successfully :) I had no idea of what you went through from 11 to 19, kudos to you for coming through that as a lovely person who deserves to have lots of friends. Cookies look good, or should I say looked good, I shouldn't think even one of them survived the evening :) Looking forward to the pics.
I knew it would go like this...Wish I coulda been there! Loved the interplay between you & bs after...love to know what the cookies were like!
